SPEND MONEY ON TREATMENT

Regarding the letter Aug. 21 opposed to using tax dollars for the Insite
safe injection centre in Vancouver: for all the millions our government
spends to combat illegal drug use, less than 10% is spent on treatment.
Addiction is a disease and requires medical assistance. I would rather my
tax dollars go to Insite and rehab than jails where they are not given help
for their addictions. Safe Injection sites do not increase drug use, nor
crime. If more money was spent on treatment, instead of on futile
combativeness the world would be a better place!
