CHIEF WANTS TO SELL SEIZED GOODS ON INTERNET

BROOKSVILLE - The police department wants to sell thousands of dollars
worth of jewelry and other items seized from local drug dealers.

The items include two Rolex watches valued at more than $10,000 each and
two all-terrain vehicles.

Brooksville Police Chief Ed Tincher said he wanted to offer the jewelry,
especially the more valuable items, for sale on the Internet to get the
best price.

He said area jewelers would offer only wholesale prices.

State and federal laws allow law enforcement agencies to seize personal
items used in drug crimes or bought with profits of drug crimes. Most
departments use profits of these seizures to advance their battles against
drugs.

Among the items are a men's silver Rolex marked with gems and a woman's
gold Rolex, also gem-studded. Tincher said both items have been identified
as genuine.

Other jewelry includes men's rings, men's and women's necklaces, and bracelets.

Tincher also offers a large collection of Tampa Bay Buccaneers memorabilia.
