PROGRAM VISITS ODESSA SCHOOL, TEACHES 'STRAIGHT WAY'
Drugs, alcohol, AIDS and teenage pregnancy are things that many of us
never had to deal with during our adolescence. But these are some
issues today's children are dealing with in their youth.
That's why the Straight Way Drug Prevention Team paid a visit to
Fannin Elementary School in Odessa Monday.
The group teaches kids to combat problems such as drugs and
sexually-transmitted diseases. Their goal? To channel today's youth to
be a positive force in a negative situation.
The Straight Way prevention group has reached out to more than 700,000
students this year. It's described as the largest and most effective
program of its kind in the southwest.
