CITY OFFICIALS TO LEARN FROM BANGKOK EXPERIENCE WITH DRUG PROBLEMS
VANCOUVER - A city delegation plans to head to Thailand later this month to
exchange ideas with Bangkok officials about dealing with drug problems.
Bangkok officials made trips here in September, 2002, and September, 2003.
A report to council from city manager Judy Rogers recommends approval of
the trip.
"It's a combination of us working with them using our expertise with regard
to inner-city situations, but also learning from them the extent of the
drug problem in Bangkok," said Vancouver drug policy coordinator Donald
MacPherson, a member of the delegation, which will also include Councillor
Tim Stevenson, Rogers, community project manger and partnership program
coordinator Wendy Au, and manager of staff and organization development
Mitch Romanchook.
