PHARMACY WILL PAY FINE FOR LOSING DRUGS
A Golden pharmacy on Tuesday agreed to pay $625,000 in fines for
losing drugs worth about $600,000, according to the U.S. attorney's
office.
The pharmacy, a branch of the national NeighborCare chain, supplies
drugs and other medical products to long-term-care facilities like
nursing homes, according to the company's website.
A Drug Enforcement Administration audit revealed that inadequate
record-keeping and security systems led to NeighborCare's loss of
120,000 units of 15 drugs, a violation of the federal Controlled
Substances Act. The company has updated its systems, and is now
considered in compliance, according to the government.
