ANTI-SPEED VIDEO DRAWS REQUESTS FROM OTHER AREAS
A Victoria video on the dangers of a widely used drug familiar to many
young people but not their parents is being requested across the province.
"We've gotten a lot of calls already and from places other than
Vancouver Island like Fernie, Penticton and McBride," said Ron
Thomson, regional manager of audio visual services for the Vancouver
Island Health Authority.
The video, Reduce Speed, features youth addicted to crystal
methamphetamine. The health authority, which produced the film with
funding help from the provincial government and Greater Victoria
Police Foundation, recently had its inaugural screening for a packed
audience of local health officials, police, teachers and students.
Eight copies are available now at Greater Victoria Library's eight
branches.
Health professionals can borrow it from the libraries at Royal
Jubilee, Victoria General Hospital and Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
The 22-minute documentary can also be purchased for $39.95 through the
audio-visual department at Royal Jubilee Hospital -- phone 370-8204 or
