NINTH TERM SOUGHT

Underheim Will Seek Re-Election

State Rep. Gregg Underheim wants to continue what he's already started.

Citing past campaign promises he said he's fulfilled, Underheim, R-Oshkosh,
announced he will seek a ninth consecutive term representing Oshkosh
citizens in the 54th Assembly district during the November elections.

"When people vote for me, they're very clear on what they're going to get
because I tell them what I'm going to get," Underheim said. "I think I've
demonstrated in the long haul that you can count on what I say."

Underheim said he has adhered to his promises from his last campaign in
2002 by not raising taxes in order to solve the state budget crisis and has
authored legislation allowing the public to reduce the size of county
boards and creating a repository for cancer drugs and supplies.

Underheim said he would use his ninth two-year term to reduce the rate of
growth of government and to continue to work on clearing up "Wisconsin's
regulatory environment."

He authored a bill aimed at legalizing medicinal marijuana and intends to
continue pursuing its research and approval.

Underheim has represented the district since 1987 when he won a special
election. He's been re-elected since 1988.
