MEN TRY TO USE WASTE TRANSFER STATION TO TRAFFIC MARIJUANA INTO UNITED STATES
ABBOTSFORD - A scheme to conceal marijuana with a load of garbage
destined for the United States was broken up at an Abbotsford waste
transfer station Wednesday.
Three staff members at the transfer station in the 34300 block of
Industrial Way noticed three other men trying to put green plastic
garbage bags on an already-loaded truck at about 10 p.m., said
Abbotsford Police Const. Shinder Kirk. The staff members confronted
the men and managed to keep one of them at the scene, but the other
two ran away. A Langley RCMP dog and his handler tracked them down
later. The men, 35, 45 and 55, include a former employee of the
transfer station and a current employee who has been on medical leave.
