153 ARRESTED IN MASSIVE RCMP MARIJUANA RAIDS IN SURREY

SURREY - On Nov. 13, 2003, Surrey RCMP drug section in partnership with 11
other agencies announced an initiative to combat marijuana growing
operations. Using government and private agency support, the team of 28
officers spent the last five months reducing the number of marijuana grow
operations in the City of Surrey. Below is a summary of some of their
successes.

- - In 2003 the City of Surrey charged property owners a total of $384,148.61
to recover the costs of police, fire and city resources in relation to 221
operations. So far this year, the city has charged $163,196.92 in relation
to 97 operations.

- - Search warrants were executed at over 160 operations.

- - More than 153 people have been arrested.

- - Children were found in 23 of the 160 homes searched.

- - Three properties have been ordered forfeited to the crown.
