STOP CRIMINALIZING DRUGS

Congratulations to Nolan Finley for his assessment of the drug war and
the apt comparison to Iraq ("Subject drug war to the Iraq War test,"
Nov. 19). The amount of misinformation or lack of information that the
public bases its assumptions on is staggering. Nobel Prize winner
Milton Friedman is gone but his thinking lives: "Drugs are a tragedy
for addicts. But criminalizing their use converts that tragedy into a
disaster for society, for users and non-users alike."
