HOMEMADE BOOBY TRAP KILLED OUTAOUAIS MAN IN GROWHOUSE

An Outaouais man who died from a gunshot wound in a Val des Monts cottage
last month was killed by a bullet from a homemade booby trap, police said.

MRC des Collines police confirmed the man, whom they will not publicly
identify, died from a single gunshot wound.

The booby trap was installed to protect a Val des Monts cottage, which
doubled as a marijuana grow operation.

Police said the victim had a lengthy history with police relating to drug
offences and investigators have already linked him to other grow operations
in the Outaouais and continue to look for more.

Capt. Michel Regimbald said the other growhouses were not protected by
weapons, but the entrances had been "fortified" to keep intruders out.

Police said their investigation is not complete.
