SEVEN ARRESTED, 4 CHILDREN SEIZED IN POT BLITZ

MAPLE RIDGE - Police seized more than 4,000 pot plants and arrested seven
people in a two-day blitz this week that targeted marijuana growing
operations in single-family houses.

Four children were also turned over to the Ministry for Children and
Families after Ridge Meadows RCMP raided six houses May 5 and 6. A new
luxury car was confiscated as well.

All seven people arrested are Vietnamese, said Corporal Dave Walsh of the
Ridge Meadows RCMP. They are facing charges ranging from production of a
controlled substance and trafficking to theft of electricity.

In the largest raid, 1,205 plants were discovered in a basement.
