DOPE SMOKING CLAIM CALLED SPECULATION
LANGLEY - A suggestion that a young driver smoked marijuana after an
accident that killed two of his friends and injured another is "fanciful
speculation," the Crown argued in court this week.
Prosecutor Winston Sayson made the comment in his final argument in the
case of a young driver accused of impaired driving while high on marijuana.
The defence lawyer had suggested the accused smoked the pot after the fatal
accident.
But Sayson said it was "fanciful speculation" that the injured accused
could have smoked marijuana while he was in a cervical collar, strapped to
the bed, and watched by the police and medical staff at the hospital.
