COUNCILLOR WANTS TOUGHER LANDLORD BYLAWS

RICHMOND - Coun. Bill McNulty wants Richmond to follow the lead of
Chilliwack in curbing the growth of the indoor marijuana-growing industry.

Chilliwack council has voted unanimously in favour of a new bylaw targeting
landlords that requires them to conduct regular checks on their tenants.

The bylaw is to receive final approval later this month. McNulty said he
will ask Richmond staff to look at the new Chilliwack regulations and also
see if they can be even tougher for Richmond.

Property owners have a duty to be aware of what's happening in their homes,
he said.

"The problem is so bad we even have grow ops and meth labs in apartments
now," said McNulty.
