MAN CHEWING ON CRACK DEMANDS TO BE ARRESTED
Burnaby RCMP were startled when a young man walked into their detachment
and demanded to be arrested.
When asked why he wanted to be taken into custody, the man, who appeared to
be chewing gum, replied: "'Cause I got a pocket full of dope."
The man walked out of the detachment and disappeared before an officer
could find him, but a few minutes later other officers spotted the man
wandering around the detachment's back parking lot.
Police seized rocks of crack cocaine at the scene Wednesday and arrested
the man.
It turns out the man had been chewing on rocks of crack during the
incident, Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Pierre Lemaitre said yesterday.
A 25-year-old man, of no fixed address, was held in custody overnight and
released on condition he appear in court on a charge of possessing a
controlled substance.
