DEAD BECAUSE ...

To the Editor:

Thanks for publishing Cynthia Tucker's outstanding column: "Our
futile drug war claims a new victim." (Dec. 3).

Apologies will be offered and actions will be regretted, but Kathryn
Johnson is still dead. Dead because she was suspected of selling the
wrong (politically selected) recreational drug to willing buyers.
Dead because she probably assumed that someone breaking into her home
in the middle of the night was up to no good.

Dead because she tried to defend herself.
