BABY TAKEN FROM STONED PARENTS

A baby boy was taken from a downtown apartment after authorities
discovered a prostitute, her customer and the child's parents high on
drugs in the suite, police said Tuesday.

"That's not the kind of environment any child should live in," said
police spokeswoman Annette Bidniak.

Police went to the apartment on the weekend after someone complained a
prostitute and her customer were using drugs in the suite with a
four-month-old boy present.

Police went to the apartment Saturday morning and got the visitors to
leave. An officer and social worker went back that night and found the
baby's parents -- a 35-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man -- drunk
and high on drugs. The child's father has been charged with assaulting
a police officer and obstruction.
