GWILT APPEARS IN COURT
Carol Gwilt, owner of a now-closed Commercial Drive cafe that openly sold
marijuana, appeared in Vancouver Provincial Court yesterday along with
eight others on pot charges.
A court date was set for Oct. 20 to allow some of the co-accused who worked
at the Da Kine Food and Beverage Shop to get lawyers. Gwilt, 38, remains in
jail.
The group, all charged with possessing marijuana for trafficking, was
arrested Sept. 9 after police raided the cafe and seized nine kilograms of
pot, 450 grams of hashish and $63,000. Gwilt is also charged with
possessing the proceeds of crime.
