POT ACTIVIST GUILTY
A pot activist pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana for the
purpose of trafficking Friday, after a judge rejected his claim that
police illegally searched his home.
A lawyer for Chris Buors, 46, argued last week that police conducted
an illegal, warrantless search after Buors was the victim of a robbery
in 2002. Three masked men broke in and stole electronics, and a
neighbour called police.
Buors told the officers, "I don't think I want you to come in here."
But Sgt. Frank May testified he had no choice, since he feared the
robbers might still be there. Once inside, he discovered 26 pot plants
and hydroponic equipment.
