DRUG CHARGES STAYED AGAINST TORONTO MAN

Cocaine trafficking charges were stayed yesterday against an admitted
drug dealer who claimed he was racially profiled by two Toronto police
officers. The federal Justice Department denied that the charges
against Sheldon Jackson were dropped because of the racial profiling
allegations. The two officers who arrested Mr. Jackson were also
involved in the arrest of a black real estate agent who was acquitted
when the judge ruled the officers had used racial profiling when
making the arrest.
