WITHIN SECONDS, THREE OFFICERS ARE SHOT
These are the events based on information supplied to the Free Press
from police and other sources:
* On Thursday evening, detectives from downtown-based Division 11 get
information that a resident of a Jubilee Avenue home may be involved
in the drug trade.
The officers appear before a magistrate and secure a search warrant
under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act for 723 Jubilee Ave.
* 10 p.m. -- A dozen city police officers begin to assemble near
Pembina Highway and Jubilee Avenue to map out who will do what in the
drug raid. Plainclothes and uniform officers from Division 11, the
Street Crime Unit, the Canine Unit and Division 16 in south Winnipeg
are involved.
* 10:50 p.m. -- Officers rush up to 723 Jubilee to execute the
warrant. Within seconds, three male officers are shot inside the
house. One of the three is shot in the leg by another officer in the
confusion. A suspect is also shot. * 10:58 p.m. -- The first call for
an ambulance is made.
* 10:59 p.m. -- A Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service fire truck arrives;
its crew members (first responders) are trained in emergency first
aid.
* 11:01 p.m. -- One of the first responders reports: "There's four
people injured here." First paramedic unit on scene (Paramedic 04)
reports that all have gunshot wounds. Three more ambulances are requested.
* 11:02:11 p.m. -- Paramedic 01 volunteers to respond to 723
Jubilee.
* 11:02:30 p.m. -- Paramedic 22 reports it is responding to 723
Jubilee.
* 11:03:43 p.m. -- Paramedic 14 reports it is responding to 723
Jubilee.
* 11:05:03 p.m. -- Paramedic 04 reports it needs another WFPS first
responder crew.
* 11:09:56 p.m. -- Paramedic 98 is paged to go to Jubilee Avenue at
Cockburn St. South. * 11:10:29 p.m. -- Paramedic advises an emergency
medical supervisor that police report a victim at Jubilee and Cockburn.
* 11:10:59 p.m. -- Paramedic 98 advises it is responding to Jubilee
and Cockburn.
* 11:11:37 p.m. -- A WFPS platoon chief on the scene advises paramedic
dispatch there are three ambulances at 723 Jubilee treating three patients.
* 11:11:57 p.m. -- EMS supervisor advises paramedic dispatch that
police say there's no victim at Jubilee and Cockburn. Dispatch reports
that police chased the suspect to this location, and that's where he
was caught.
* 11:12:22 p.m. -- Platoon chief advises paramedic dispatch that
there's a patient at Jubilee and Cockburn and he is injured.
Apparently, the patient is in a police "cruiser car."
* 11:12:52 p.m. -- Second EMS supervisor reports he's responding to
Jubilee and Cockburn to assist Paramedic 98 with patient.
* 11:20:07 p.m. -- Paramedic 04 reports it is en route to Health
Science Centre with a man with a gunshot wound to abdomen. He is
conscious, in critical condition.
* 11:30:36 p.m. -- Paramedic 01 reports it is en route to St. Boniface
Hospital with patient who is stable, conscious, suffering unspecified
trauma.
* 11:35:21 p.m. -- Paramedic 22 reports it is en route to HSC with a
male with a gunshot wound to leg. He is conscious, in stable
condition. * 11:36:00 p.m. -- Paramedic 98 reports it is not needed at
scene. "No one left," Paramedic 98 reports.
* 11:38:47 p.m. -- Paramedic 14 reports it is en route to HSC with one
male with a gunshot wound to arm. He is conscious, in stable condition.
