PROHIBITION IS WHAT CAUSES ALL THE PROBLEMS
Re: New fire marshal grow-op savvy, The Standard, Dec. 4.
Instead of jumping on the wrong-headed, proven-to-be-a-failure
prohibition bandwagon, you would think Fire Marshal Patrick Burke
would be calling for the regulation of drugs! It is prohibition that
is making people steal hydro, ruin homes, set up booby traps and use
weird chemicals. If Burke doesn't use his position to lobby for drug
regulation, he is not only wasting a huge opportunity, he is
endangering everyone in Ontario.
Back in the 1920s, when alcohol was illegal, fires were caused by
badly built and run home distilleries. Today we have home beer and
wine making, which is legal. We also have meth labs and pot farms.
Why is it that people of 70 years ago were so much more intelligent
than people of today?
