DRUG CENTRE OPPOSED
PORT ALBERNI - Residents have launched a petition in a bid to prevent
a drug-treatment centre from being opened in a former school.
"I live within spitting distance of that school. My grandkids play at
that school," said resident Tom Dawes. "You can call it whatever you
like, but I think this is a controlled drug place. I want to see my
grandkids come out and still be able to play here."
Of more than 140 people attending a meeting on the centre last week,
only two suggested it might not be as bad as people think.
