THINKING OF USING METH AS AN APHRODISIAC? PLEASE THINK AGAIN

Apparently it's all about sex. That's what's fueling the meth epidemic. At
least that was the topic at a recent meeting in Chattanooga, Tenn., of a
task force studying the ravages of methamphetamine in the Appalachian
Mountains. The state's governor shook his head as one federal prosecutor
called meth an aphrodisiac.

Frankly, it sounds ridiculous to us.

But medical doctors say that when it comes to a short-term boost of sexual
appetite and performance, meth is more powerful than cocaine.

(Several studies and surveys have shown that - despite what comedians say -
the best sexual experiences actually happen between married people, those
in long-term, committed, trusting relationships.)

Of course, one hit of meth can also be immediately addictive and lead to
bankruptcy, homelessness and divorce. In addition, meth will destroy an
addict's health.

In other words, one hit of meth could improve your sex life or ruin your life.

John Walters, the Bush administration's drug czar, isn't impressed with
meth's image as a sex aid. Pushers for almost every illicit drug make
similar claims. Walters pointed out that it's false advertising.

"Hair falls out. Teeth falls out. That's not sexy," he said of meth use.
