Good Deeds
BIRMINGHAM VOLUNTEER FIGHTS TEEN DRUG ABUSE
The president of a Seaholm High group also works to improve the public schools.
Parents and teens in the Birmingham-Bloomfield area have a friend in Julie
Galante.
Julie is a tireless volunteer who has put numerous hours and plenty of
heart into reducing substance abuse and improving the public schools here
in our community. Last year, Julie served as the Birmingham Public Schools
PTSA council president and also served on the boards of both Birmingham
Bloomfield Families in Action and our organization, Birmingham Bloomfield
Community Coalition.
This year, she is serving as the Seaholm High School PTSA president and is
chairwoman of our "Parents Who Host, Don't be a Party to Underage Drinking"
public awareness campaign.
Because of volunteers like her, we are making a difference; substance abuse
among teens in the Birmingham-Bloomfield area has been reduced.
