WOOLFORK: ANTI-METH WEB SITE 'A GOOD IDEA'

A new Web site that Tennessee has launched to fight methamphetamine will
enable law enforcement statewide to be on the same page, Madison County
Sheriff David Woolfork said.

"I think it's a good idea," he said. "Meth is a continuously growing
problem that has a devastating effect on this state as well as throughout
the country.

"With the site people will be able to log on and look at some signs and
basic information that would help the average citizen or person recognize
(where) there might be a possible lab," Woolfork added.

Gov. Phil Bredesen announced Tuesday the site will provide an exchange of
information about the addictive drug.

"With so many people and organizations focused on the war on meth, we need
a central point to exchange vital information," Bredesen said in a press
release.

The site also has links from across the state and nation about treatment
programs, upcoming conferences and meth-related news. There is an area for
people to sign up to receive news and legislative updates through their e-mail.

Bredesen believes the site is the first step of a broad campaign that will
be developed statewide to raise awareness about the dangers of meth abuse
and of manufacturing meth.
