SCARY STORY ABOUT CRYSTAL METH

I am writing in response to the column by Bob Hughes in the Leader-Post of
March 9, "A nightmare on Meth Street".

I found it absolutely shocking. I had no idea that there were so many young
people on meth. Hearing the parent's side of what they view is completely
scary, if you think about it. My question is, why do kids choose crystal
meth over marijuana or ritalin, for that matter? Is it because crystal meth
gives you a better high than any other drug?

Hearing about the young couple who froze to death was sad; they had so much
going for them. They were young. They had a long, happy future ahead of
them, and, simply, they seemed, to have what everybody wishes for -- an
extremely happy relationship. To find out that the couple was on crystal
meth for three days and without food is scary to think about. Just picture
this: You are on a high for three days in a vehicle at minus 10 degrees
Fahrenheit, not knowing that you are freezing to death and that you are
also dying from starvation.

It is frightening to think what the world is going to be when I bring a
child into it. I don't want to picture that.

So, thanks to Bob Hughes for getting me thinking about the seriousness of
crystal meth and what the lives of users and their families are like.
