POLICE SAY MAN TOOK CHILDREN ALONG ON CRACK COCAINE DEALING EXPEDITION
NEW WESTMINSTER - Police have arrested a man who took his two children
along while he dealt crack cocaine.
SkyTrain police called New Westminster police at about 7:30 p.m. on Monday
because they saw a man dealing drugs near the New Westminster SkyTrain
station on Eighth Street.
What made the situation worse, according to Staff Sgt. Casey Dehaas of the
New Westminster police, was that "he had two young kids with him while he
was doing this."
The five- and seven-year-old children "were beside him while he was
actively dealing in crack cocaine."
When a city officer arrived, he found that the transit police had arrested
the man.
The city officer searched him and found he still had some crack cocaine on him.
Police called the Ministry of Children and Family Development, who arrived
and took the children into care.
"I don't think it's appropriate for a father to have children with him
while he's dealing in crack cocaine," Dehaas noted.
