'ROGUE HEROIN' WARNING BY POLICE

DETECTIVES in Coventry are continuing their investigations after two
men were found dead, possibly from a batch of contaminated heroin
circulating in the city.

Officers are still waiting for the results of post-mortem
examinations, but it is believed the two men died as a result of
taking the 'rogue' drug.

Detectives issued an urgent warning over the weekend that extreme
caution should be used since it was thought that a bad batch of the
drug was responsible for the deaths.

Det Insp Nigel Harrison, of Stoney Stanton Road police station,
said: "We get the occasional death from heroin, but to get two in
such a short space of time is very rare."

The body of a 38-year-old man was found in the back of a car parked
outside the Sainsbury's store in Courthouse Green at about 3pm on Friday.

Less than three hours later, police were called to a flat in
Watcombe Road, Henley Green, where the body of a 49-year-old man was
found in the lounge.

Neither man has yet been named.
