POLICE WARN HEROIN USERS ABOUT DANGEROUS SUPPLY
VANCOUVER - Vancouver police are warning heroin users to be careful about
where they get their drugs after three people died of apparent overdoses on
the weekend.
"Because of the high number [of deaths] in one weekend we would like to put
out a warning about the possibility there are bad drugs out there, and in
particular 'hot heroin'," said Sgt. Anne Drennan of the Vancouver Police
Department, explaining police believe addicts are getting heroin that is
either laced with something or is stronger than normal. "We would ask that
anybody that does use heroin please be . . . extremely careful right now,"
she said, urging drug users to know exactly where they are getting their
drugs, and to seek supervision while injecting. Two of the victims were
found in the Downtown Eastside, she said, and the third in Southeast Vancouver.
