TOWNSHIP TO FILL TUNNEL
As U.S. authorities begin filling in the American portion of the
cross-border drug tunnel from B.C. to Washington state today, Langley
Township engineers are finalizing their plans to destroy the Canadian portion.
Three Canadians were arrested on July 20 and charged in the United States
with drug offences after allegedly digging the tunnel with hand shovels,
then bringing two loads of marijuana through it. Langley is responsible for
dealing with the Canadian section of the tunnel, and the work is expected
to be done by Sept. 2.
