POLICE ISSUE HEROIN WARNING AFTER A 10TH PERSON DIES FROM A SUSPECTED DRUG
OVERDOSE

VANCOUVER - Vancouver has recorded its 10th suspected drug overdose death
in almost two weeks, leading police to issue another warning about the
possibility of a bad supply of heroin being sold in the city.

A 49-year-old man died on Tuesday evening after an overdose that police say
may have been from heroin.

On Thursday, Vancouver police Const. Howard Chow said paramedics had
revived the man from a similar overdose on Sunday, but "he wasn't so lucky"
the second time around.

Police have said they believe it is possible some heroin dealers may be
substituting methadone for heroin, and that the supply could be linked to a
pharmacy on the Downtown Eastside that was broken into last month.

Police will not be able to confirm what has been causing the recent
drug-related deaths until proper tests have been conducted.
