FERGUSON: COUNCIL TOUGHENS LAWS TO PREVENT METH LABS

The Ferguson City Council passed a bill Tuesday night that aims to curb
methamphetamine production in the city.

The bill targets meth labs, and deems a public nuisance the possession of
any drugs or chemicals used in the production of methamphetamine. If
someone is arrested once for possessing any of the substances or materials
to manufacture meth in a residence, the building will be closed for one year.

"If someone is found to be in possession of 10,000 Sudafed tablets, we're
not going to buy that they have allergies," said City Manager A.J. Krieger.

Krieger said that the city has experienced no problems with meth labs, but
city officials wanted to strengthen its laws before a problem developed.
