OFF THE MARK WITH EDITORIAL

Re: Prison Tattoo Editorial, Times, Dec. 8.
Whoever wrote this article sure has no clue on the subject. First
off, the cancellation is good for the taxpayers. Saves us a great
deal of money. You have to ask yourself why are we funding such a
program for convicted criminals?
The age-old argument that it reduces harm as proclaimed with safe
injection sites is a crock. Inmates are already incarcerated with
these infectious diseases, they only require the needles for other
drug use and weapons.
Have we all forgotten that they are in jail for a reason? Certainly
not to learn clean and better ways to tattoo each other.
All these bleeding heart drug-activists think these programs are
beneficial, I can tell you from experience, they only serve to
contaminate the situation.
How about saving us taxpayers even more money? Cancel the methadone
program. It is extremely costly for the taxpayer and the prisons
never used to have such a program 10 years ago but we're still
plagued with drug problems so why are we spending millions of dollars
on meth treatment that is clearly not beneficial.
In fact, the introduction of the meth program introduces more
problems that were not present before the implementation. Inmates
will take the drug and regurgitate after consumption to sell or pay
debts to other inmates. Now do you have a clue what you are talking about?
I support the Conservatives. I am tired of supporting and paying for
the drug addicts and criminals of this country-it's time to get
tough. Thank you Mr. Harper.
