The operators of Vancouver's supervised injection site want to create
housing above the site on the 100-block East Hastings.
The PHS Community Services Society and the Vancouver Coastal Health
Authority want upstairs rooms available for Downtown Eastside
residents who have recently left hospital and for injection-site users
waiting for detox services.
PHS controls several properties in the Downtown Eastside and will
operate social housing in the upcoming Woodward's project.
Council must amend its policy that prohibits special-needs housing
from that area for the project to proceed.
