MARIJUANA GROW ACCUSED GRANTED BAIL

A man alleged to have been involved in a massive marijuana grow operation on
the Pasqua First Nation has been released from custody on a number of
conditions, including not to speak publicly about his views on whether
growing marijuana is a treaty right.

Lawrence Hubert Agecoutay, 49, was released Thursday on a $500 non-cash
recognizance with a number of conditions, including that he must maintain a
residence in Regina, abide by a curfew, report to police regularly and have
no contact with his co-accused.

Under the conditions of his release, Agecoutay is also not allowed to go to
the Pasqua First Nation and must submit to searches up to three times a
month.

Agecoutay is one of six men facing charges stemming from an August raid on
the Pasqua First Nation, during which about 7,500 marijuana plants were
seized.

Chester Girard, 57, Luke Zigovits, 26, and Jack Northwood, 53, were all
previously released on bail, while Joseph Agecoutay, 45, and Robert
Agecoutay, 46, remain in custody.
