MEDICAL POT CRUSADER MUST LEAVE, COURT RULES
VANCOUVER -- Federal Court Judge Yvon Pinard upheld Friday an
Immigration Department decision that U.S. medical marijuana advocate
Steve Kubby and his family must leave Canada.
Pinard said in his judgment that Kubby faced no undue risk from
returning to the U.S. where he faces imprisonment for 1999 drug convictions.
A cancer patient who uses marijuana to relieve some of his symptoms,
the former Libertarian candidate for governor of California worries
his health will deteriorate and he will die if imprisoned without
access to pot.
"No jail in the U.S. allows the use of medical marijuana," his angry
and distraught wife Michele Kubby said.
