HELP FOR PARENTS

A Parents' Guide To Understanding Teen Drug Use Has Been Updated By A
Retired Port Moody Police Officer.

The third edition of Teen Drug Trends (below), produced by Robb
McGirr and funded by the PoMo Police Services Union and the BC
Federation of Police Officers, discusses what drugs young people are
using and what the risks are.

The 56-page book also talks about how to communicate with at-risk
teens and lists health resources available to them in the community.

A total of 5,000 copies have been printed and can be picked up for
free at PoMo Police Department. The report will also be distributed
to local schools and through the Society for Community Development.

An expert in drug trends, McGirr teaches workshops to parents in
School District 43 and is a school-based drug and alcohol prevention
counsellor for teens.
