LEGAL POT WOULD CAUSE OTHER DRUG USE TO DROP
I'm writing regarding the story Aug. 5 on contraband smokes costing
the government as much as $4 million daily in taxes. If marijuana were
legal, Canada would generate an estimated $3-billion in annual tax
revenue, or $8.21 million a day, while also saving about $2-billion in
policing, courts and jail costs, or $5.47 million a day. With legal
pot, the use of tobacco would likely decrease, as would the use of
booze, hard drugs, and pharmaceuticals.
