FOUR HOMES IN A ROW BUSTED WITH GROW-OPS

Police Credit Alert Neighbours For Arrest Of Five Men, 1 Woman

The Mounties have shut down a boulevard of bud in Chilliwack.

With search warrants in hand, the Mounties stormed four residences in
the 41900-block Yarrow Central Road early yesterday, with the fifth
bust just a stoner's throw away in the 42500 block.

The first four homes were all in a row.

"What made this different is they were all neighbours," said Const.
Steve Hiscoe. "It is believed they all knew each other."

About 400 plants in various stages of growth were found along with
two rifles that were unsafely stored.

Five men and one woman are in custody. The oldest is 54 and the
youngest 16. All face pot charges.

Only a week ago RCMP busted a grow-op in a home across the street
from the four. And on April 10, police called to a "grow rip" at a
home in the 42700 block found a grow-op when they arrived.

Hiscoe said of the five grow-ops busted yesterday, two were being
dismantled. "They knew the heat was on."

Hiscoe said people noticed suspicious activity and tipped the police.

"What it says to me is Yarrow looks like a quiet community and people
think they can get away with running a grow-op, but having a small
community means we have very, very alert neighbours," said Hiscoe.

"They look out for each other."
