NEEDLE EXCHANGE PROPOSAL TO BE DISCUSSED

The Faith Community Partnership meeting, a monthly forum on the
impact of HIV, will take place tonight from 5:30 to 7 at the PAL
Center on 3707 N. Market St.

Tonight's forum will examine the needle exchange program, in which
drug users to exchange used syringes for new ones to stop the spread
of HIV. Delaware and New Jersey are the only two states in the nation
that prohibit both needle exchanges and access to syringes at
pharmacies without a prescription.

The forum will include details of a proposal in the state House of
Representatives and where the proposal currently stands regarding
approval, said Renee P. Beaman, executive director of the Beautiful
Gate Outreach Center at Bethel AME Church.
