SEMINAR OFFERS TRAINING TO RENTAL PROPERTY OWNERS AND MANAGERS ON HOW
TO DISCOURAGE CRIME
VANCOUVER - The B.C. Crime Prevention Association, provincial host of
Crime Free Multi-Housing, is working in partnership with Vancouver
police and North Vancouver RCMP in training rental property owners
and managers on how to reduce nuisance and criminal related activity
in and around their premises, at a training seminar Thursday at Mount
Pleasant Community Centre.
Originally from the U.S., Crime Free Multi-Housing is a three-phase
program, designed to reduce nuisance and illegal activity from rental
communities. Active in more than 1,200 cities across North America,
the CFMH program is gaining momentum, particularly in the Lower
Mainland, where the prevalence of marijuana grow-operations,
methamphetamine labs, and identity theft is a reality for rental
communities. Once owners or operators of a property have completed
all phases of the program, a Crime Free Multi-Housing sign is affixed
to the property, promoting its certification. Properties are required
to receive annual recertification by local law enforcement.
