POLICE ASK PUBLIC TO REPORT POT OPERATIONS
WHISTLER - RCMP in Whistler and Pemberton are asking outdoor
enthusiasts to report marijuana growing operations they stumble
across during their travels.
Police directed their appeal to hikers and pilots who might spot
outdoor pot farms.
In a written statement, police asked the public to report any signs
of illegal activity and make note of global positioning system
coordinates of the plots.
Tips from the public enabled police to seize a significant amount of
marijuana last year, the statement said.
Other agencies cooperating with the RCMP effort include provincial
forestry and conservation staff members, the Stl'atl'imx Tribal
Police in the Lillooet area, and RCMP air services.
