LARGE-SCALE, UNUSUAL MARIJUANA BUSTS KEEP RCMP BUSY

In December 2005, complaint of a theft near McSween Road led police
to 6,000 plants found in chicken barns.

In April 2005, a 3,967-plant operation was busted in McConnell Road
barns.

A November 2004 bust yielded 6,708 plants from a chicken farm on
Bailey Road.

In January 2005, the strike force found a warehouse of 1,000 plants
in the 8000-block Evans Parkway.

In February 2005, the strike force busted a warehouse in the
6300-block Vedder Road with 2,000-plus plants.

In October 2005, a civilian flying a plane reported an outdoor
grow-op near East Harrison Forest Service Road, leading to a seizure
of 2,000 plants.

In July 2005, an underground grow-op bunker next door to
Conservative MP Chuck Strahl's farm was busted with 570 plants.

In February 2006, Chilliwack and Hope RCMP took down a 3,400-plant
grow-op in Laidlaw with an underground water and electrical system
using stolen hydro.

In one bizarre bust, a Chilliwack grandmother was caught growing 506
plants in a home she shared with her husband and daughter.

In September 2005, police busted a home in the 45900-block Sleepy
Hollow Road that revealed 700 plants hidden beneath a trapdoor in the
basement of a woman in her 50s.

In January 2006, paramedics responded to a 911 call at a home in the
9800-block Young Road. No one was home. Instead of a patient, they
found a 342-plant grow-op.
