U.S. PRESIDENT SLAMS AND SALUTES CANADA IN ANNUAL REPORT ON DRUGS
Washington - U.S. President George W. Bush cited Canada's large-scale
production of marijuana for export to the U.S. in his annual report
on drugs released Monday
Canada was not on the so-called Majors List of top drug-producing countries.
But the brief report did single out Canada on marijuana. It also said
the U.S. "enjoyed excellent co-operation" with Canadian agencies on a
broad range of law-enforcement issues.
Bush also saluted Canada's attempts to curb the diversion of
precursor chemicals required for methamphetamine production to feed
U.S. illegal markets.
The U.S. president identified 20 countries as having major drug
problems, including Afghanistan.
