POLICE STILL TRYING TO CONFIRM IDS IN GROW OP SHOOTING

The body of a man killed in a shooting police have linked to a
marijuana grow operation was removed from a North Glengarry Township
farm yesterday afternoon, while investigators tried to confirm his
identity as well as that of two other men shot in the incident.

An autopsy on the body is scheduled for today. Two other men injured
in the shooting remain in hospital in serious condition, said Ontario
Provincial Police Sgt. Kristine Rae last evening.

Two men taken into custody after the incident will appear in court
this morning via video, Sgt. Rae said.

"We're still trying to confirm the identity of everybody involved,"
she said.

Police were called to 18985 Kenyon Concession 5 just outside
Greenfield, a village near Maxville north of Cornwall, at about 3 p.m.
Friday. Police recovered a gun at the scene, and found the grow
operation on the property.

Yesterday, neighbours were still coming to terms with the
slaying.

"This is about as quiet a road as you can imagine," said Lise Leblanc,
who lives directly across the road. "You rarely see a car, let alone a
police car."

She described the owner of the farm as a man in his 60s from Montreal.
She said she wasn't sure if he lived there full time.

Jason Pallen, who also lives close by, said he was anxious to know if
it is the man who owned the farm.

"I guess they found a lot of marijuana plants, and now a murder. You
just never think of something like this happening out in the country.
This is big city stuff."
