CRYSTAL-METH EDUCATION PROGRAM PLANNED
Warnings about crystal meth will be delivered in B.C. classrooms in
the new year as part of a $3-million public education campaign,
Education Minister Shirley Bond announced Monday.
"We know crystal-meth use is a problem," she said in a release.
"Research shows that about five per cent of students in Grades 7-12
may have tried crystal meth.
"The best way to stop someone from using it is to keep them from
starting. That's why education is so important."
The campaign will include classroom lessons, teacher resources, a
parents' guide and a website (www.no2meth.ca) featuring interactive
games, activities and information on the dangers of the drug.
The campaign is part of a government commitment last year to spend $7
million fighting crystal-meth use.
