FATHER FACES TWO CHARGES AFTER DAUGHTER DRANK WATER LACED WITH DATE-RAPE DRUG

The father of a five-year-old Vancouver girl who was rendered
unconscious after accidentally drinking water laced with GHB -- the
"date-rape drug" -- has been charged with criminal negligence and
possession of a controlled substance.

Vancouver Police spokesman Const. Howard Chow said police would not
name the 32-year-old man in order to protect the identity of his daughter.

The child was taken Children's Hospital on Wednesday and her
condition Friday was listed as good.

She had helped herself to a drink from a bottle stored in the family
fridge and her father called 911 when he couldn't wake her up.
