DRUG DEALER IN CAHOOTS WITH THIEVES

Cops Pick Up Deal On Suspect's Cellphone

An alleged dial-a-doper has been arrested after Quesnel RCMP answered
his cellphone and struck a drug deal with local thieves.

Cpl. Gary Senner, of the Quesnel RCMP drug squad, told the Cariboo
Observer newspaper that police pulled a suspected drug dealer over and
found a replica gun, crack pipe and cellphone in the truck.

While the suspect was being booked, his cellphone rang. A police
officer picked up and arranged to meet a group of men who had just
broken into a local sports store.

A deal was made to trade $40 worth of crack for $1,200 worth of stolen
ski jackets.

"We made an arrangement to meet on the [city's] west side and they
were quite surprised to see us," Senner said.

The men were arrested and a police investigation was launched into the
links between the thieves and the suspected drug dealer.

Last week, police raided a Quesnel home related to the thieves and
discovered a cache of stolen goods, including kayaks, televisions and
expensive clothes.
