THUMBS UP AND DOWN:
On Mondays, as a start-of-the-week departure from our usual editorial
format, we offer you Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down, a smorgasbord of sweet
and sour bite-sized opinions:
Thumbs Down
To former Texas drug agent Barry Cooper, for selling out. Cooper,
who was highly regarded as a narcotics officer, is selling a video
called, "Never Get Busted Again." The video, according to the Tyler,
Texas, Morning Telegraph, tells viewers how to "conceal their stash,"
"avoid narcotics profiling" and "fool canines every time." Cooper told
the newspaper that one of the reasons he made the video is because he
favors marijuana legalization and the "war on drugs" is a waste of
time. Apparently, the other reasons have to do with making money. A
fellow Texas drug agent, Mark Waters, responded, "This is a slap in
the fact to all that we do to uphold the laws and keep the public safe."
